Incredible modern tasting plates from the kitchen of Christine Mansfield.
Going to Universal was like going to the dining equivalent of an art gallery; everything looked and tasted exciting. The service was great and the atmosphere was laid back and comfortable, however the food isn't made to be filling. We spent about $200 on food (plus another $150 on drinks) and I had a toasted sandwich when I got home. This isn't a deal breaker for me, I'm definitely going again, just don't expect to be full after.
Vegan status: Let them know you are vegan when you book because although quite a few dishes are vegan they did a few other dishes especially and they were amazing.
Price range: All of the plates are around $30, and you will probably need to order about four dishes each.
Restaurant style: Relaxed modern restaurant opening up to the courtyard in the Republic building in Darlinghurst.
Recommendations: Everything we had was incredible, pictured are corn cakes, we also has steamed heirloom carrot and kohlrabi ravioli as well as an amazing gelato tower.
