Miss Chu serves delicious vegan fare from multiple tuckshop locations around Sydney and Melbourne, including delivering rice paper rolls from her boat on Sydney Harbour.
Miss Chu's tuckshops are gorgeously adorned in lanterns and bunting. The original canteen was in Darlinghurst and is still there pumping out rice paper rolls that you can eat perched on stools on the side of the street. A number of other locations have opened over the past few years, both in Melbourne and in Sydney. If you find yourself unable to get to the tuckshop, Miss Chu's delivery service will bring you your food by bicycle and you can order online through the 'Me Hungry' section of her website. Her newest Sydney location is at Townhall, close by the train station and cinemas.
There are plenty of vegan options which are all labelled accordingly and you can get something from most sections of the menu including rice paper rolls, warm vermicelli & mixed mushroom salad, wild rice & quinoa with greens and sautéed mixed mushrooms and also couple options off the chalkboard menu. The vegan Hanoi Curry and Banh Cuon with mushrooms, black fungi, tofu and spring onion are both my favourites but to be honest, I haven't had anything I don't like.
Vegan status: lots of vegan options throughout the menu, sometimes including the dessert but you will just have to ask as the desserts aren't listed on the website.
Price range: $7.50 for rice paper rolls up to $13-$15 for main bowls.
