Janet’s Pies – King St, Newtown.

Very very tasty pies. You really can't go past the Thai broccoli pie, especially since you can pick one up at 2am on Saturday. The hot chips and gravy are also vegan and there is a killer apple pie for after.

Vegan status: Vegan items clearly marked on the menu.

Price range: About $5 for pies and $10 for meal deals (pie, chips, salad and drink).

Restaurant style: Takeaway and cafe style seating.

Recommendation: I rarely having anything but the Thai broccoli pie because it is so damn tasty, and if I can fit it in the apple pie after, but the vegetable curry pie is pretty good and lots of people love the Middle Eastern roll too.
